I’m Perfect.

ahh..came on blogger after so long...i just happened to notice that now a days people tend to use the word "perfect" a lot. They think that they themselves are perfect and no one else can match their experience.

Perhaps you must have noticed that I’m Perfect when put together as a word becomes imperfect.

Well over the years as technology advanced the world around us has become very competitive. As expectations rise, we go about fulfilling them but in this process we forget a simple but realistic fact of life that we as humans are not perfect. We have always set perfect goals for our life i.e. to have a perfect career, to be the most perfect friend, to graduate with a perfect degree from the best college so on and so forth. But we seem to forget that we were created to be imperfect, to make mistakes and learn from them.

If we don’t achieve the desired goals our life becomes imperfect and we label ourselves as failures. We grumble, moan and complain. Words like ‘stupid’, ‘crazy’ and ‘silly’ replace ‘creative’, ‘brilliant’ and talented. We should strive and work hard to achieve what we desire but we shouldn’t succumb to our failures or the pressure put on us by our parents, teachers or society. Happiness and joy in life should be retained and we should stop being nostalgic.

Who said life is fair? Who said you had to get a score out of 100? Ever thought of the answers to these questions? Rules as we call them were created by society, by our parents and in short by us. It gives us the definition of right and wrong. Slowly but surely it controls everything we do and don’t do. When you party till 3am it is termed as inappropriate. And we may ask why? It is because society has generalized this fact.

Humans are meant to be different. We make different choices and lead different lives. And life is all about learning. Learning comes from experiences, difficulties and our mistakes. If we think we our perfect why even learn and live if we know everything. We should learn to take risks and make mistakes but at the same time learn wisely. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. So why do people associate negatively with the word imperfect?

If we think closely we would realize that mistakes, difficulties and experiences contribute the most to our happy moments. If you hadn’t tripped, you wouldn’t have found a friend. If you hadn’t screwed that question you would have never learnt. If you had never been punished in school, you probably wouldn’t have stories to share with your grandchildren.

We should not hide our weak points or flaws just to prove our greatness. Instead we should work around them and try to improve ourselves. Incompetency is often viewed as unattractive. But one should remember that only machines are perfect, not people. Perfect things perform their jobs with 100% accuracy and speed but they don’t smile, they don’t fight, don’t emote and are certainly less attractive compared to people. Machines our perfect till they are working, only to be replaced silently when they are no longer able to perform and generate expected results. But we must not forget that people are meant to make mistakes and learn from them. Mistakes create layers that help define you.

It is because of our imperfections that we become truly perfect. They make us who we are i.e. humans. Perfection leads to consistency. Imperfections lead to spontaneity and creativity. The happiest moment of your life is a result of imperfection. Think about it.
